This brave new world,
Awash in Paxlovid aftertaste,
Putin recycling a wartime dream,
While ancient hatreds resurface,
Staining a forgetful world,
In the delusions of eighty years ago,
Tesla saving miles per gallon,
While race wars rage in the States,
Embroiled in an unresolved past,
Ignoring the suffering of Cobalt slaves,
Voting for old men who should retire,
Don’t fool yourself, though,
Women aren’t better,
Corruption is a human condition,
But we keep dividing and conquering,
Drawing lines in the sand, can’t define gender,
But pronouns abound in a crazy Candyland,
Children ranting about rejection for views,
Living in privilege, screaming about abuse,
And it comes down to being kind, but…
Celebrities dressing as Satan in drag,
Cavorting in white cell block homes,
Telling us what they think of it all,
As if their opinions matter more,
But…stop, breathe, look around…
We’re being sucked into the whirlpool,
Imprisoned in our own echo chambers,
We are all flies stuck on paper,
Caught because we failed to look around.
